Ronald R. Herd, 70, died on January 8th, 2021, in his home surrounded by family. He was born January 2nd, 1951, at St. Vincent’s hospital in Monett, Missouri, the son of Johnnie Ray Herd and Delores (Wilmoth) Herd.
Ron joined his father in the oil business in 1968, his junior year. He then graduated from Monett High School, Class of 1969. Following graduation, he attended Southwest Missouri State University and received a Bachelors’ Degree in Marketing. He married Cathi Allen on August 18th, 1972. They lived and operated their business in Monett until 2004. In 2004, they moved to Navarre, Florida, along with their daughter Jennifer (Herd) Crawford and her family. Ron purchased H&W Oil Company from his father the same year and owned it until the time of his death. He and Cathi recently celebrated 48 years of marriage. Ron enjoyed bowling at the Monett Bowling Alley, bass fishing, coaching little league baseball and softball, and was 1st trumpet in his high school marching, concert, and jazz bands.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sister, Carol (Herd) Boeving.
Ron is survived by his wife, Cathi (Allen) Herd; his daughter Jennifer (Herd) Crawford and her husband Greg Smith; granddaughter Lauren Crawford of Navarre; former brother-in-law James Boeving of St. Louis, Missouri; and nephews Nicholas Boeving of Denver, Colorado and Dr. Michael Boeving of Palm Beach, Florida.
Following cremation, a private service will be held at the home. Those who wish to remember Ron in a special way may send flowers or cards to the Herd household or make donations to the American Cancer Society.
