Carol went to Magnolia High School in AR. After graduation she attended Southern Arkansas University where she obtained a BA degree in Music Education. She then moved to Jacksonville, AR and taught middle school at Central High School in Little Rock and was the first music teacher at North Side Junior High in Jacksonville, AR. She helped her music class write their Alma mater that was still being sung when her daughters attended the school. Carol was the Day Care Director at Marshall Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville AR and molded many children's lives there. Carol taught piano for over 60 years. She taught voice up to 40 years.
Carol Odell has been serving God with the music talents that God gave her since she was 16 years old. Carol has a voice that sounds like an Angel singing. She has played the piano for churches since she was in high school. If Carol knew you were struggling with something your name was written down on her prayer book and she mentioned you by name in prayer daily until she knew the pray was answered.
Carol raised 2 daughters to grow up to love God, work hard and value family. She made sure we were at church every time there was a function. She instilled in her daughters the value of education. While raising her daughters she was the Day Care Director, taught private piano and voice lessons, and served as the church pianist. After she retired, she continued to teach piano lessons and serve as the church pianist. She only stopped teaching piano because of COVID-19.
Carol Odell is survived by two daughters, Lydia Brown (husband Edward Jennings) and Melanie Tipton (husband Adam Tipton), two grandchildren Timothy New (wife April New) and Stephanie Shepard. Carol Odell is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Layla, Stella, and Liam. She enjoyed being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
Carol loved everyone she met. She would smile at everyone and her smile brightened the room. If you spent any time with Carol, you were blessed by her. Today she is singing in Gods choir, loving her mother, father, and brother whom she adored. I, and her family, will miss her every day until we see her again in heaven.
