James V. Hughes, 67, of Milton passed away on August 6, 2020. He was born October 25, 1952 in Pensacola, FL to Emmett and Bonnie Hughes. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 – 1974 as a PV2.
James was an active member of First Apostolic Church of Milton, FL since 1998. He served his church in leadership capacity as Head Usher; oversaw Men’s Ministry and church campouts; coordinated fundraising for Annual Men’s Conferences; implemented the church Fishing Rodeo; and many numerous tasks related to his love for his church and church family.
He was preceded in death by: his wife of 33 years, Janis Strong Hughes; daughter, Jamie Larsen Hughes; and father, Emmett Avon Hughes.
Survivors include: his children, Joni Suzanne Hughes and Jeremy James Hughes; granddaughter, January Lynne Hughes; mother, Bonnie (Ray Mac) McKee; sister, Sue Davis; stepson Darren Huff; nieces, Cary Carter (Junior) and Kimberly Smith-Hughes; nephew, Johnnie Buck Smith-Hughes; great niece, Jalynn Strebel; great-nephew, Matthew Carter.
Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on August 22, 2020 at First Apostolic Church, Milton, FL.
James always encouraged his children by saying, “It will work itself out”.
