David Henry Ivey, 75, of Pensacola, FL went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. He was born August 11, 1944 to his parents, Leonard and Levada Ivey.
He went to Brownsville Elementary and Jr. High and graduated from Escambia High School in 1962. David later attended Pensacola Junior College.
Growing up, David loved baseball. It was one of his passions that started an early age. He began with playing youth baseball, and continued in high school, then in the minor league. After playing for many years, he enjoyed coaching youth baseball. Many knew him as “Coach”. David also enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, and anything doing with baseball, but what he enjoyed the most was being with his family.
He had several jobs throughout the years, he entered the finance business in 1966. David also worked at Baptist and Sacred Heart Hospital in the 1980s, he then began working in the Assisted Living Industry as regional manager where he worked for 15 years. After retiring he worked part-time at Manheim Auto Auction. But the job he loved the most was the four years he worked for the Pensacola Blue Wahoo’s as an usher along first base line.
David joined the Kiwanis in the 1970’s, he was also a notary, and part of the chamber of commerce, and had been a deacon. He was a member of East Brent Baptist Church for 40 years.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, Leonard and Levada Ivey and brother, Jack Ivey.
David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Sheff Ivey; two sons, William David Ivey and Jeffery Thomas (Crystal) Ivey; four grandsons, Andrew Ivey, Preston Ivey, Matthew Ivey and Dakota Northrup; two granddaughters, Ashlyn Ivey and Camryn Ivey; great-grandbaby, Everly Ivey; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many lifelong friends.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until funeral service begins at 9:30 a.m. at East Brent Baptist Church. Burial will be at Bayview Memorial Park.
