I am deeply saddened to learn of Byron's passing, which I just saw in the NWU Archways magazine. Byron was my baseball teammate at NWU; he was a wonderful athlete, excelling at baseball and football and even though he didn't play on the basketball team he was one of the best basketball players on campus. I absolutely loved to watch him carry the football as a running back at Wesleyan.

His outgoing personality was infectious and he was a friend to all who knew him. He laughed a lot, and I remember him as a great teammate. I have only good memories when thinking of Byron, and I wish to pass along condolences to all of his family.

Byron was such a kind, generous person whose light brightened everyone around him. My sympathies and prayers to his mother and family members. As a cheerleader at Nebraska Wesleyan, I was amazed at Byron's athletic talent on the football and baseball fields...he was an awesome 1st baseman. While teaching in Australia, he wrote to tell me he had given up a baseball offer to pursue his career in radiology (?), in Washington. I'm sorry that we lost touch...but know that his magnetic personality touched many who will miss him.

Byron played baseball at Nebraska Wesleyan University with my husband, Bob “Bongo” Blake, and was in our wedding in 1977 in Lincoln. Bob thought so highly of Byron and his athletic ability, and absolutely loved playing baseball with him. Plus, he was so much fun to be around! We were very sorry to learn of Byron’s passing in the most recent Wesleyan newsletter and would like to express our condolences to his family. Bob and Donna Blake

Byron brought out the best in each of us just with his smile, his warmth and his ability to make each one of us feel special. We need him now more than ever but God has plans for his wonderful soul. I am grateful he was part of us. Sending prayers and joyful memories to his family and friends.
