James Horace Simmons, Jr
1933 – 2020
James Horace Simmons, Jr,” Red”, was born on May 10, 1933 to Horace Sr and Mabel Scott Simmons, and left for his eternal life on March 11, 2020.
James served the U.S. Navy ’53 – ’57 aboard the USS Cascade. He retired from Gulf Power after 38 ½ years and worked 9 years with Line Power.
He loved gardening, fishing, and helping people. He could build and repair almost everything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and his son, James III.
Those here to cherish his memory are, his very best friend and wife, Cheryl; son, John (Emily) Redd of Johnson City, TN; brother, Mickey (Lisa) Simmons, sister-in-law Janice Simmons and brother-in-law, Tom Williams, all of Pensacola.
A private service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery. No flowers please, just kind thoughts and prayers.
