Everyday I think of things I want to tell my sister, Celia. We talked often and she was my true confidant and advisor! She was always upbeat and encouraging and loving. We never ended a conversation without saying ‘I love you.” We we’re both super interested in researching our family history and no detail was too small to delight in learning! We shared our memories of our youth and kept up with each other’s ups and downs in life’s journey. We understood each other and loved each other very much! As a child, Celia was pretty much a tomboy, athletic, impressing everyone with her gymnastic skills! She stayed upside down , feet in the air , a large portion of the day ! Her dream as a young girl was to become a circus performer!! She was chosen to be the mascot for Brownsville Junior High School Bears and performed her skills at all the football games! As young teenaged girls we practiced dancing together, taking turn playing the male’s role and leading the dance. We were often accused of leading our partners later in life! The role was hard to break! We practiced singing songs for the holidays and did a good job harmonizing and adding in variances. After we married and had children we spent many good times letting our children enjoy each other. Through the years we were often separated by many miles, but we worked hard at visiting and staying connected with visits, letters, and phone calls and later with visits, emails and unlimited phone calls!! We were friends, we were sisters!! When we lost our Mom almost 13 years ago we bonded even closer, knowing how valuable we were to each other. Celia was a strong minded, honest, loving person! She adored her sons and grandchildren and tried to make each of them feel how special they were to her ! Each unique and special to her!! She was hardworking and fun spirited! Home and family meant everything to her! She was a good daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend! She gave us wonderful memories and I will forever miss her so very much !! Bobbie
