Gail Marie Somerville Banks
1955 - 2020
Gail Marie Somerville Banks, age 64, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 7, 2020 after a lengthy illness.
Gail was loving and thoughtful, dedicating her life to her sons, grandchildren, family, friends and anyone who met her. Gail’s life seemed too short for so many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile brought so much joy to others; she never met a stranger. Gail’s final days were spent surrounded by the those who loved her because of the impact on their lives.
Gail was born May 31, 1955 in Lakehurst, New Jersey to James Robert and Arlene Jay Somerville. She was a 1973 graduate of Pensacola High School.
She was so proud of her three amazing sons. Gail worked as a hairdresser and a seamstress. Her most recent passion was designing and creating doll clothes by using her tremendous talent behind a sewing machine. Gail truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, reading fiction mystery crime books, watching musicals, listening to country music, and spoiling grandchildren and furry creatures. She was an amateur photographer and loved taking pictures of the life around her.
Gail is survived by her mother, Arlene Jay Somerville; brother, Robert (Bobby) Somerville and wife Charlotte; brother, Craig David Somerville and wife, Sandy; sister, Jody Elaine Somerville; son, Edward (Trey) Ellis Banks III wife, Kristy; son, Trenton Allen Banks; son, Trevor Thomas Banks, wife Sharon; her eight grandchildren, Haley Jade Banks, Caleb Ellis Banks, Kylie LeAnn Banks, Evan Ellis Banks, Tessa Marie Banks, Ember Eve Banks, Jose Ethan Lozada, Helana Adriana Lozada, special friends, Doug Bridges, Pam Cribbs, Carol Williams; and let’s not forget her cats, Toby Toes, Meredith and Ana.
Family and friends whose lives Gail touched are invited to Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, February 14, 2020.
Celebration of Life will be held at Gonzalez United Methodist Church, 2026 Pauline Street, Cantonment, at 11 am on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
