My deepest condolences to Steve's wife, son and the rest of his family and friends. I first met Steve at Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida in July 1978. After graduating. we went our separate ways in Naval service. Then, twenty years later, in July 1998, on my first day in the Instrument Shop at Clinton Power Station, our paths crossed again. We hadn't kept in touch or seen each other in nearly 20 years, but he came right up to me and reminded me that we had spent 6 months together in Navy nuclear training. He always had a mind for numbers and an incredible memory. We worked together for just over 20 years at CPS, from July 1998 to his retirement in September 2018. Steve was always happiest talking about his wife, his son, camping and his dog. Again, my sincerest sympathies to Steve's family, I know he will be missed. Matt Erwin Decatur, IL

I always loved it when Uncle Ray, Aunt Dee, and the boys visited us at our lake cabin in the summer. Steve always brought these huge math books with him. I asked him one time why he didn’t bring something fun to do and he looked at me all confused and said, “I did! I like doing math problems!” He’d try to show me how to do them and they were way over my head. He was the smartest kid I ever knew!
