Mary Jane Coleman-Lewis, 64, of Monroe, Louisiana passed away on December 31, 2019 at the Manor of Blue Water Bay in Niceville, Florida to be with the Lord, leaving behind many family members, friends, and acquaintances who have treasured her.
Although I have loved you all, my expected appointment arrived. You all can rest assured: my earthly life was so blessed and I knew beyond any doubt that my heavenly experience will be so much more magnificent than I can even begin to try to express in words. So I’ll just say “be sure you are able to be welcomed too when your appointment is announced.”
My parents, Jimmie Nell Seaberry-Coleman and Herbert Coleman welcomed me and my twin sister (Sara Ann) into the world on September 24, 1955 in Monroe, Louisiana. I was 8th of Ten children born to their union and I know my parents loved all of us.
Sisters: Murray Gene Gray (Frisco, Tx), Bonnie D. Coleman (Monroe, La), Threase M. Coleman (Seagoville, Tx), Reese M. Williams (Desoto, TX); Janice M. Coleman (D) Sara A. Coleman-Jones/Monroe (Baker, FL) and Rosa (Angel) Y. Coleman (Fort Walton Beach, FL), Brothers: Don Coleman (D), and Herbert Coleman Jr (D).
My life was filled with the richness of family love from childhood. I was surrounded with the fantastic adventures of loving and living during a simple time with marvelous family members, cousins, friends, and some of the most intriguing friends and acquaintances-they well know who they are.
To us, poverty was no cause for panic at all. We hardly even knew it was there. We lived joyfully the life God gave us. I personally offered my life to Christ at 8 years old at the New Light Baptist Church (Monroe, Louisiana) under the leadership of the Late Rev E.B. Brass Senior.
Volunteering and demonstrating compassion for others as well as devotion to my family were among the things I pledged dedication to during my earthly life.
Left to Cherish me with fond memories are 2 sons: Jonathan K. Lewis/Rie (Jacksonville, NC); Nickalous J. Lewis (Ruston, LA); God-Son: Joshua C. Lewis (Lake Charles, Louisiana); Stepson: Brad Lewis (Lafayette, LA); Three Princess Granddaughters: Sophia, Takara and Amina; Three Aunts: Lucille Lindsay/James; Carolyn Johnson; and Carmie James: The father of my children and lifelong friend; Karl Lewis (Richardson, TX); A very Special Friend: Mr. William Brooks; Special Cousins: Connie and McKinley Ellis; A Loving Cousin: Yvonne Marie (ReRe) Coleman along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
After graduation from Richwood High School in Monroe, Louisiana, I joined the U.S. Air Force and served as an Air Traffic Controller and Jet Engine Mechanic. After wonderful experiences at several Air Force Bases, I was blessed to serve in many capacities for companies and businesses throughout the . I focused my attention in my later years upon supporting the less fortunate and trying to help my fellow-man. I was proud of the work I was allowed to achieve and I pray that God was pleased.
I imagine I will be missed for one reason or another, just make sure you don’t miss Heaven. All my Love… Mary
