Otha Uriah Grant, 91, of Milton, FL left this earth on December 21, 2019 for his heavenly home.
Otha was born June 28, 1928 in Repton, AL. He was the second child born to Sanford U. and Clara E. Grant.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Grant, parents Sanford U. and Clara E. Grant, his twin daughters Marlene Harbison Grant & Darlene Thid Grant, his sister Juanita Boutwell, and his brothers Clifford Grant & William Grant.
He is survived by his son Curtis O. Grant of Montgomery, AL; daughters, Charlene D. (Keith) Rowell and Cheryl A. (Bruce) Powell, both of Milton, FL.
Otha is known as “Pepa” to his six grandchildren: Maria (Denis) Martin, of Milton, FL; Luke (Sandi) Grant, of Baker, FL; Marcus (Aubrey) Grant of Auburn, AL; DeAnna (Mitch) Lambeth, of Milton, FL; Matthew (Tamara) Grant of Harker Heights, TX; & Kayla Dee (Nathan) Hamel, of Pace, FL.
“Pepa” has thirteen great-grandchildren: Brink, Kayden, Chance, Faith, Grant, Malachi, Monroe, Drake, Kurt, Tripp, Jackson, Eden, and Carol Anne.
Otha is also survived by his in-laws: Sandy Grant of Mobile, AL, Dollie Grant of Foley, AL, Eloise Flowers of Foley, AL; Martha (Kenneth) Smith of Brookhaven, MS; and John Richard (Sharon) Harbison II of Robertsdale, AL.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 8:00 AM at Olive Baptist Church, Pensacola, FL. There will be a Celebration of Life Service following the visitation at 10:30 AM at Olive Baptist Church. Burial will be at Memory Park Cemetery in Milton, FL.
Pallbearers are his grandsons Luke Grant, Marcus Grant, Matthew Grant, Mitch Lambeth, Nathan Hamel, and Denis Martin.
Otha “Pepa” loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece Betty, and his extended family and friends. He loved being outside fishing, mowing the grass, and gardening. He loved giving out candy and was known as the Candyman.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was in the Korean War. His occupation was a butcher. He was the bass singer for the Gospel Tones. His faith was strong in the Lord, and he loved serving Him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Olive Baptist Church’s “Fostering Family” at 1836 East Olive Road, Pensacola, FL 32514.
