James Franklin Land, 74, of Pace, passed away on November 29, 2019. He was born and raised in Pace, Florida on September 7, 1945 to Rufus and Lillie Mae (Gun) Land.
In 1963 he started his long occupation of working as an operator and grounds man. Which he enjoyed until he retired four years ago.
He loved fishing and going to Nascar Races, shucking and eating oysters. He was always working on a car, yardwork or just hanging out in his shop (garage). Everyone that knew him, loved him so much. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He always helped anyone that needed help.
James was preceded in death by: wife, Dot (Beebe) Land; parents; brother, William Land; sisters: Letha Strickland, Mary Lee Piquette, and Linda Hammond.
He is survived by: his daughter, Tammy R. Lewis (David); son, Butch Meharg; grandsons, Jeremy and Joshua Lewis; granddaughters, Jennifer, Jordann, Jensen and JayLynn Lewis; sisters, Betty Jo and Alma; numerous nephews and niece.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.
Service will be held also at the funeral home, Friday, December 6, 2019 at 10:00 am. A procession will follow to Hickory Hammock Cemetery for a graveside service.
