Our beloved husband and father, Mallie Lee Tucker, Jr. passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on November 5, 2019
Mallie was born in Pensacola, FL on April 19, 1927. His parents were Mallie Lee Tucker, Sr. and Lillie Sellers Tucker. He was educated in local schools and attended Marion Military Institute.
On September 5, 1947 he married Margaret Barberi and they were blessed with 2 children: Rebecca Lee, Mallie Lee Tucker III (deceased).
In his younger days Mallie worked in downtown Pensacola as a salesman at White & Whites’s and Douglas Allen Men’s Stores.
After his marriage, he began a career in the insurance field which continued until his retirement. Mallie was an honorable man and was well known for his integrity and outstanding character.
Mallie was a part of East Hill Baptist Church most of his life, beginning in the Cradle Roll as a baby. As a teen he committed his life to Christ and continued his allegiance to East Hill Baptist Church. Through the years he served as a Sunday School teacher, an usher and an ordained deacon. He also was part of various committees. Presently, he and Margaret are members of Heights Baptist Church.
Mallie was proud of his family heritage. His grandfather was captain of The Fritz, a stern-wheeler that ran supplies and passengers from Freeport to Pensacola. His father, Mallie Sr. would pick up passengers and take them to their final destination in the family car. This resulted in the start up of one of the first taxi cab services in Pensacola in 1929, Tucker Taxi.
Mallie loved to play golf and fish. He spent many happy days with his family on the St. John’s River in Deland, Florida.
Mince meat pie, fish chowder, Wolf Bay Lodge, family breakfasts, homemade fig preserves, fried seafood and Saints football games will never be the same without Papa’s presence and his loving touch.
His kindness and gentleness were evident in his daily living as well as in his love for all creatures. Mallie and Margaret shared 71 years of marriage and created many special memories with family and friends.
A deep and abiding love for our LORD and His Word and dedication to family were the foundation for a life well-lived. Papa is deeply loved and will be forever missed. We are truly blessed to call Mallie Lee, husband and papa.
Mallie is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret and beloved daughter, Rebecca Lee. He was predeceased by his dear son, Mallie Lee Tucker III and a special half sister, Virginia.
Our heartfelt appreciation to our “extended family", Mother Margaret Mary Rumpf and Sisters, Visitation Monastery for their love and prayers through the years as well as to Ernest Murphy, Pastor Brian Knott, family and friends.
A Homecoming Celebration service will be held for our precious Mallie on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Heights Baptist Church, 600 Pickens Avenue Pensacola, FL. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm with the service at 2:00 pm. Pastor Brian Knott will officiate.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints. Psalm: 116-15

Private Condolence

Although my friendship with Mr. Tucker was brief, his humble spirit and devotion to his family was evident and inspiring. I have not known a more devoted husband and father other than my own. With a strong servant's heart, his dedication to his church and community will always demonstrate his im measurable witness and compassion for those he met on life's journey. I have been blessed to know him and the precious legacy he has passed on to his wife and daughter will continue to keep his memory alive.

Our hearts and Prayers go out to the Tucker family with the loss of Mallie.
Kay and I lived in the same neighborhood and always enjoyed chatting with them when they out working in the yard.
Margaret and I teased each other frequently and shared many laughs together.
I am so proud to have known these two sweet people !!!
Mallie is safe in our Lords hands, God bless you both.
