Connie Louise Willingham Rodriguez was born on October 14, 1949 in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Ada Virginia Willingham and Robert John Willingham, Sr.
She attended Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Milton, Florida and later made Greater True Vine Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida her church home.
Connie graduated from East Highland High School, Class of 1967. She later moved to Milton, Florida where she began working at Vanity Fair. Driven by the passion to learn she attended classes at Pensacola State College where she would acquire an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She found joy teaching others about technology and would become a Head Start teacher for the Santa Rosa County School Board retiring after 20 years.
In 1990 she met her life partner, Robert E. Strickland, Sr. This was a 29-year union filled with joy, laughter and dedication.
Connie is preceded by her parents; three siblings: one sister, Ruby Joann Wright Martin, two brothers, Herbert Byron Willingham and Robert John Willingham, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory is devoted life partner Robert E. Strickland, Sr.; her children, Corey L. Childers and Raven (Joseph) Cunningham; two brothers, Marvin Dwight Willingham and Joseph Gene Hughes; two sisters, Gailenee Nelson and Debra Jo Levins; nieces, nephews, cousins, many loved ones and dear friends.
Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton. Services will be on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at Greater True Vine Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida burial to follow on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacuga, Alabama.
