Sandra "Sam" Marcum, née Kiinhl, 56, of Pensacola passed away peacefully in her home July 29th, 2019. She is predeceased by her mother May J. Norman, her father L.V. Kiihnl, her sister Angie Doyon, and brother Rickey Kiihnl. Survivors include her husband David Joe Marcum of Pensacola, her children Hope (Robert) Chessel of Green Cove Springs FL, Lonnie Joe (Juanice) Jackson Jr of Pontotoc, MS, Rickey (Brianna) Jackson of Navarre, FL, Bobby (Christina) Marcum, Angel Wheller, and Mack Marcum, all of Memphis TN. She also leaves behind her brother James Norman of Pocahontas, TN and sister Debra Chase of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless lifelong friends.
Originally from Memphis, TN, Sam made her home in Pensacola in 1989 as a resident of Navy Point. Her love of the water was a part of her calming spirit that will be missed by so many. During her lifetime she was devoted first and foremost to her family and second to helping anyone in need as demonstrated by her career in health care. Her compassion and empathy gave everyone around her, be it a grandchild or a patient, a sense of security and peace.
Services will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home Saturday August 17th at 4:00 pm and the family will receive visitors at 3:00 pm the day of services. In honor of her vibrant spirit a celebration of life will be held following services at her residence for family and friends. Interment will be held at a later date in the Barrancas National Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice or any brain cancer charity.
