Dennis Steven Trahan, 65, of Pensacola, Florida, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 22, 2019. He was born on September 21, 1953 in Mobile, AL to Darrell Arthur “Red” and Mary Trahan.
Dennis met and married Dianna Lynn Henderson in 1977. Their relationship was unique- they were married just three weeks after they met. They were married for almost forty-two years.
He started out in the funeral business digging graves at Bayview Cemetery when he was 16. He then worked at Fisher-Pou Funeral Home. Taking a break from the funeral industry, he worked at Gulf Coast Paving and Grading and Joe Money Machinery for about 10 years and loved to tell the stories of his experiences. Then back to fulfill his calling in the funeral industry where he touched countless families with his tremendous caring heart during his 45 years in the industry. He worked at several funeral homes during his early years as an embalmer and attendant. He realized he needed a license to be able to move ahead and he attended Bishop State Community College in Mobile, AL to receive his Funeral Service Degree. Once becoming a licensed funeral director, Dennis and the family went into business just as a removal service in 1996 with a minivan and a borrowed cot, but the Lord had other plans. The Lord led them to expand to a licensed funeral establishment in 1998 and Trahan Family Funeral Home has been helping those in need ever since. The Lord continued to bless and Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton opened in 2015. His three children and 2 daughters-in-law work for the funeral home and will continue his legacy proudly!
Dennis belongs to the Christian Motorcycle Association in Pensacola/Milton where he served as Vice-President, the Maranatha Riders of Northwest Florida Chapter 464, the Krewe of Lafitte, and serves on the board of New Horizons of Northwest Florida as Executive board member and Treasurer. Dennis and Dianna are members of Lakeview Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL.
Dennis never met a stranger; he had a unique love and compassion for people. He was always willing to help people. The love for his family was always strong, as was his love for the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved riding his motorcycle, the last ride he was able to take was on vacation and he was on a mountain in Arkansas where the view was tremendous!
He is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Christopher Trahan.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Dianna; children: Candi (Jody) Parker of Milton, “B.J.” (Jenny) Trahan of Pensacola and Richard (Pamela) Trahan of Pensacola; grandchildren: Noah, Hannah, Brighton, Samantha and Jefferson; and brothers, Skip (Michelle) Trahan of Frisco City, AL, Larry (Gail) Trahan of Cincinnati, OH and Perry (Rickie) Trahan of Crestview, FL. Dennis loved his sisters-in-law as his own family: Renee (John) Farmer of Milton, FL and Susan (Alvin) Blackard of Springfield, MO. He also leaves nieces, nephews, extended family and friends all over the United States. He also loved all his employees as family and he would not want them left out!
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at East Brent Baptist Church at 12:00 noon with services starting at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Maranatha Riders of Northwest Florida Chapter 464 to the Dennis Trahan Memorial, 4890 Randee Circle, Pensacola, FL 32506 or to the New Horizons of NW Florida, 10050 Hillview Drive, Pensacola, FL 32514.
The family would like to thank Baptist Hospital for the excellent care Dennis received during all his hospital stays. The nurses and doctors were great!! Thank you for taking such good care of my husband and our children’s father. Special thanks to Dr. Balfour, and his entire staff including the heart clinic; Dr. Qader and his entire staff; Dr. Karen Snow and her entire staff; Dr. Joudeh and Dr. Frank Greskovich at the Woodlands and their entire staff; and Walgreens (Beverly Pkwy) their assistance with the medicines/prescriptions. The manager Craig and his entire staff is awesome!

I wish I had known Dennis better. The only time I was around him was when my own momma and daddy were being buried. He was very good to me and my family. I am so sorry for your loss Dianna and family.

Condolences from your neighbors across the street, Ron and Karin Kramer 5944 Whisper Creek. I talked with Dennis several times as we took out the garbage and always enjoyed seeing him on his motorcycle. Our prayers are with you during this sad time.

My mother, Monette Pheiffer Hartley, thought of all the Trahan boys as her brothers. Now my mother and Dennis can join hands and laugh as they relive their childhood stories. Somehow knowing they have each other as they did in their childhood makes this news a little easier.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
