Mr. Osburn was born to Lowell Thompson Osburn and Bernice Barnes Osburn on Dec. 24, 1945, in Maplesville, Ala. and lived in Plantersville until his graduation from Dallas County High School in 1964. He married Sadie Frances Kimbrough on July 7, 1978, in Auburn, Ala.
Mr. Osburn entertained a lifelong love of motorcycles and at a young age began repairing and maintaining his own motorcycles, which led him to a career as a motorcycle mechanic and service manager. During the early years of his career, he lived and worked in Birmingham, Montgomery, Columbus, Georgia and Opelika. He returned to his beloved Plantersville in 1985 and worked at motorcycle dealerships in Selma. He finished his career at Bush Hog Manufacturing where he was a factory service representative providing technical support for the newly introduced line of UTV’s. In 2008, he retired from his almost 50-year career with motorcycles to spend time at home with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his garden, fishing, listening to his large and eclectic collection of music, and driving a truck part-time locally. He fervently loved God, his family and his country. He was a quiet, gentle and kind man with a unique sense of humor and a wisdom that his family and friends relied on. He leaves behind a host of family and friends whose lives have been forever touched by him and made better for it.
Mr. Osburn is survived by his wife, Sadie Kimbrough Osburn; his son, Michael Allen Osburn (April) of Smith Station, Ala.; his daughter, Theresa Fleming Grundman (Sam) of Bay Minette, Ala.; his grandchildren, Sara Osburn, Savannah Reeves, Michael William Osburn, Taylor Swope, A. J. Swope and Gracie Swope; his sisters, Patricia McCullough and Faye McKinney of Prattville, Ala., and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Thompson Osburn and Bernice Barnes Osburn, and his brother, Lowell Aaron Osburn.
A celebration of Mr. Osburn’s life and homegoing will be held at the Plantersville United Methodist Church in Plantersville, Ala. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a family church, charity of choice, the Beauregard tornado relief funds, or the American Stroke Association.
