February 4, 1929 – February 7, 2019
Mrs. Lillian Henderson Monroe was born February 4, 1929 to the late Joe and Bertha Bloxom-Henderson in Pine Apple, Alabama where she was raised and educated with her seven brothers and six sisters.
Lillian was a mother, wife and provider. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Monroe Sr.
She leaves behind four precious children: Evelene (Horace) Henderson-Montgomery, Leroy Monroe Jr., Don Ricardo (Constance) Monroe and Nellie Miles.
Living a vibrant life as a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and wonderful friend to many. She was also a hard-working woman.
Lillian was a member of Englewood Missionary Baptist Church for many years where she remained a faithful servant until her health failed. Even through failing health Lillian was rarely seen without a smile. During her final days Lillian’s family was honored to surround her as she departed from this life with strength and dignity on February 7, 2019.
Lillian was further preceded in death by her two grandchildren Latangical Sherrie and Desmond Leroy Monroe and one great grandson Darius Kalil Monroe.
To cherish her memories, she further leaves behind three grandchildren Delmarsha Montgomery, Winter Nicole Monroe and Raven Symone Monroe; six great-grandchildren Ny’Keirra, Na’Zhavion, Rhyann, De’Adriaen, JaTomi and Yashua; two sisters Edna (Norman) Ross, Lovan Watson and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lillian was an epitome of strength and she will forever live in our hearts.
