Obituary for Allan Roy Ziemba

Allan Roy Ziemba
Allan (Al) Roy Ziemba, age 65 of Pensacola passed away on January 15, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. Al was born on July 27, 1947 to Arnold and Gladys Ziemba in East Orange, New Jersey. He graduated from West Orange High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Air Force in July 1966. He retired after 21 years of honorable service. His brilliant Air Force career earned him numerous awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 11 Oak Leaf clusters, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross.
Soon after his retirement he transitioned into the civil service world and began his second career as an Acquisition Contracting Specialist and served as a Contracting Officer for twenty years before officially retiring in February 2008. Noteworthy was that he awarded a support contract, in record time, supporting the Air Force warfighters in IRAQ, Afghanistan and other locations through-out the world. Al had a profound enjoyment for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and sharing stories with friends and family. Al’s family and friend relationships were very dear to his heart, and his family and friends will miss him deeply. He is proceeded in death by his parents Arnold and Gladys Ziemba and brother William (Bill) Ziemba. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest achievement was the love of his wife, Karen, of almost twenty years, and his children, numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 5401 Corporate Wood Drive, Pensacola Fl 32504, 850-475-0850 or donate blood in his name. Internment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM. A memorial reception will immediately follow the service at the Mustin Beach Club. That address is: 190 Radford Blvd, Bldg 253, Naval Air Station-Pensacola FL 32509.
Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
