Obituary for Ben Alton Mason

Ben Alton Mason, 65, went home to his heavenly home after a long battle with Leukemia, on June 5, 2018 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, FL. He was born December 16, 1952 in LaFollette, TN, the son of Alton (Sam) and Mary Mason.
Ben graduated from Woodham High School, class of 1971 and then settled in Milton, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Mary Mason; sister, Sharon Ganey; and two brothers, Charlie Mason and Mike Mason.
He leave behind his loving wife, Deborah (Callaway) Mason; son, Ben Allen Mason, wife Tanda; daughter, Julie Diana, husband Eric Hoffmeier; son Brent Anthony Mason, wife Rosali Penunuri ; and son, Brandon Alex Mason. His brothers, Nick Mason, wife Patricia, Virgil Mson wife Tamja; sister Linda, her husband Dwight Smith; brother Patrick Mason, wife Susan. His grandchildren include Brittany, Leslie, Victoria, Zechariah, Trinity, Bryan, Ethan, Bryton, Cali, Brayden, Natalie, Emma and Olivia. Great grandson, Soren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 44 years. He mentored many young men over the years as a scout leader both in Pensacola and Milton, Florida. He found joy and happiness in serving the Lord through service good works, and church callings. His calling as Scout Master was what he enjoyed the most.
Ben made his career at Bill Smith Electric as an electrician. Many young men were influenced by his strong work ethic and dedication to the company.
In his last years, Ben’s greatest treasure was being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Family get togethers were the highlight of his days. Ben was respected and loved by many. Even during his illness, he never failed to joke with his nurses and make them laugh. We give a heartfelt thanks to all the staff that assisted Ben, providing care during his illness.
Arrangements made through Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton.
