April 6, 1952 – March 16, 2017

Michael William Hollingsworth, 64, of Pensacola, FL, died Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Michael was born in Lake City, FL on April 6, 1952 to William and Faye Hollingsworth. While growing up, his family lived in Niceville, Crestview and on Pensacola Beach before settling in the Ferry Pass area of Pensacola. Michael graduated from Woodham High School in 1971.
In his early twenties, he joined the Ferry Pass Volunteer Fire Department serving for almost 40 years. Michael was a long-time member of Olive Baptist Church, and had many good friends in the Ferry Pass area.
For the last 16 years, Michael worked in the produce department of the Creighton Road Wal-Mart and considered them a part of his family. He always had a smiling face for customers and co-workers when they first entered the store.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Danny and Steve Hollingsworth; and nephew, Travis Hollingsworth. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Virginia Bedsole Hollingsworth; son William Hollingsworth, daughter-in-law Molly and granddaughter Edith; daughter Katie, son-in-law Christopher Ross and an expected grandchild; and daughter Emily Hollingsworth. He is also survived by nephews Kahlil and Brandon Hollingsworth; Uncle and Aunt Heyward and Nancy Hollingsworth; Aunt and Uncle Emmaline and Rex Jones; Aunt and Uncle Sue and Bob Wynn; several cousins; and sisters-and brothers-in-law.
The family extends gratitude and a heart-felt thank you to his co-workers and the staff of Sacred Heart Hospital who were with him in his last moments.
Visitation will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22 in the Chapel at Olive Baptist Church, viewing will be available at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
